Understand “India”  through Etymology

The Etymology of the word “India”.

The name of India derives from the Greek parts, “Ind” (River Indus) and “ia” (state). The word is ultimately a corrupted version of the Sanskrit word “Sindhu” (the river Indus), the Persian mispronunciation of which passed on to the Greeks, who gave it its final shape.
