The Etymology of “Gurgaon”

The etymology of “Gurgaon” derives from Sanskrit. It literally means “the Guru’s village”.
Legend has it that this region used to belong to the Pandavas and the Kauravas. As token of their appreciation for his training them, they awarded this land to their guru Dronacharya. Hence, the original name of Gurgaon was Gurugram.
